How does it work?

Simply start a conversation about what you'd like to do and we can go from there. Trial lessons are a great first step and can be arranged around your schedule, at a time and date to suit all time zones.

I conduct Skype, Zoom and FaceTime lessons on a laptop with full screen; using a high quality external video camera and sound system to ensure that you and your child will be heard and seen, and that they can see me, in the best possible manner.

I would teach you or your child at regular set times each week as I would with face-to-face lessons. An ongoing sense of structure to a young person’s week is important and I am sure of great use to tired parents faced with on-going child care issues.

At the end of each lesson, I always email lesson notes which you can then print off and refer to, during the week before the next session.

I am able to scan and email any music that your child needs from my extensive stock at home. In this way I aim to keep lessons interesting and moving forward in the usual manner. For copyright reasons, I then ask you to order the music via on-line delivery.

I can recommend suppliers of reeds on-line and I direct you to the appropriate resources.

I can also help you to attach reeds to mouthpieces; advise on the best way for your child to stand as they play; the right length for neck straps; what to look out for in terms of good practice and how to support your child with their learning.

Goals and an ongoing sense of achievement, remain an essential part of the lessons. In addition to the sheer pleasure of playing an instrument I always encourage my pupils to aim for music exams, concerts and other performance opportunities wherever possible.
